KTK is able to provide students a wide range of competition opportunities: from local, provincial, national to international competitions. KTK is also proud to have an established Junior and Elite Competition teams, which provides additional learning experiences to students who wish to compete at the provincial and international level.
Students, in particular beginners, are offered the opportunity to participate in the local competitions led by KTK. This is a prestigious event that is held twice a year (May and November) and provides all students with a great opportunity to engage in a “Friendly competition” environment. Competitors are classified by age and grade and can compete in individual kata.
Through our network of karate competitions, the members of the Junior and Elite team can participate in regional competitions that include kata and/or kumite.
These are two annual competitions (November to April) organized by our provincial association (AKS). Members of the Elite team have a unique opportunity to learn to manage stress and perform in an environment that is more challenging.
Elite Athletes can also participate in the selection process under Karate Quebec to represent province at the National championships.
At the higher level, students can participate in the Pan American and International JKS Championships. Also, through Karate Quebec under the World Karate Federation (WKF).
The competitions are part of fully certified and well-recognized karate associations:
WKF (World Karate Federation) which overseeing the karate Olympics in Tokyo 2020. We are member of Karate Quebec and Karate Canada, both associations recognized by the government.
We are members of the Japan Karate Shoto (JKS) Federation, which is recognized as a leader in traditional shotokan karate style.
